Former senior scout Joe McClaren appears to be back at Derby County after 18 months at Southampton.
There are unexplained goings on at Derby County.
Though no official announcement has been made by the club, it would appear that Joe McClaren, son of Rams boss Steve, is back at Pride Park as chief scout.
A recent update on McClaren Jnr’s LinkedIn profile suggests he has returned to a slightly more senior role than the one he left upon his father’s exit in 2015, to become Southampton’s national emerging talent scout.

Derby hired Rob MacKenzie as director of recruitment in the summer, but according to his own LinkedIn profile, the man who worked for Nigel Pearson at Leicester City left around the time of McClaren’s appointment as manager in October.
Once again, this has not been publicly announced by the Rams, whose website, interestingly, no longer lists staff that aren’t players, coaches or Robin Sadler, the club’s physio.
There was also no announcement regarding the departure of Clive Richards, the man who replaced Chris Evans as chief scout last summer. It is unclear whether Richards, an ally of ex-Derby-manager-but-one Paul Clement, remains an employee at Pride Park.

McClaren Snr has already re-hired Evans as technical director and looks to be getting the rest of the band back together, albeit discreetly.
