Everton are believed to be interested in Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
David Moyes has suggested on Sky Sports that if Jordan Pickford does leave Sunderland, he will advise him to go somewhere where he will be first choice goalkeeper.
Pickford has emerged as one of the brightest young goalkeepers in England this season.
The 23-year-old has taken over Sunderland’s number one, and arguably been the Black Cats’ best player this term.
However, with Sunderland set to drop into the Championship, the youngster is now set to depart the Stadium of Light.
Although Moyes has insisted that his side will fight to keep hold of the England youth international, it seems highly unlikely that he will stay on Wearside next season.
Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been linked with Pickford in recent times, with Sunderland valuing the goalkeeper at £25 million (The Sun).
And Moyes’ comments do rather suggest that he may advise the prospect to take up Everton’s offer.
“I think that would be a telling factor if the alternative was to go and sit on the bench somewhere else,” Moyes said.
“If I was Jordan I wouldn’t do that, I’d want to be playing regularly but again Sunderland hold his contract and Jordan can’t go anywhere unless we decide to let it happen.”
Moyes, of course, has strong links with Everton – having managed them during the most successful time in his career.
Ronald Koeman’s side are thought to be keen to bring in another goalkeeper in the summer, as their current options have struggled this season.
Maarten Stekelenburg and Joel Robles have both performed below expectations.
And if Pickford was to move to Goodison Park, he would be their undisputed first choice for next campaign.
