The Lancashire Telegraph reports that Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor is interesting clubs north of the border.
Burnley are said to be in advanced negotiations to sign the out of contract left back, although it is claimed that the two clubs are some way apart in their valuation, which could allow Scottish clubs to pounce.

Even though his contract has nearly ended, any English club wanting to sign Taylor would still have to agree a fee with Leeds, as though a normal transfer, because of his ages. Although, the player could still hold talks with interested parties in the meantime. Should an impasse occur, the decision will be taken out of both Leeds and Taylor’s chosen club’s hands and determined at a tribunal hearing somewhere down the line.
However, as The Herald reports, the rules are substantially different for teams in Scotland, who are able to sign English-based under-24 players for a fraction of the compensation figure a domestic club would have to pay – a loophole Celtic exposed a year ago with the capture of Moussa Dembele from Fulham.

So why Celtic?
Let’s face it, they are the only Scottish club that could realistically compete for Taylor’s signature, even if others are keen, with Champions League football potentially on offer this coming season. While there has been speculation that Celtic’s own left back, Kieran Tierney, could be on the move himself, with Liverpool and Manchester United both linked.

Signing Taylor as Tierney’s replacement – and banking the difference [which could easily reach eight figures] – would be extremely good business from Brendan Rodgers’ side, although Leeds fans will understandably disagree.
