Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has been wanting to bring back Tammy Abraham from Chelsea after his successful loan spell last season.

Villa took Abraham on loan last season, and the England international striker helped fire them to promotion.
But Villa’s hopes of bringing Abraham back to the Midlands may have been crushed.
Lampard is set to take over from Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea, and has reportedly decided to give Abraham a chance at Stamford Bridge.
That is the first real blow Villa have taken since promotion, as they have been so impressive in the transfer market so far.

Villa have lined up some ambitious targets and worked with real efficiency.
The claret and blues have signed Wesley Moraes, but he is untested in English football, and Abraham’s arrival would have received some the goalscoring burden on the 22-year-old.
It now remains to be seen whether Villa will look elsewhere at other transfer targets.
