Matteo Guendouzi is making a huge impact for Arsenal not seen from a teenager since Tottenham’s Dele Alli.

It is clear already that Arsenal have signed a gem in Matteo Guendouzi.

Guendouzi starred in pre-season for the Gunners and it was no mirage, he looks like the real deal.

It is easy to forget he is just 19-years-old.

Arsenal fans may bristle at the comparison, but not since Tottenham’s signing of Dele Alli in 2015 has a teenage midfielder signed for a bargain fee made such an instant impact.

Spurs spent just £5 million on Alli, with Arsenal signing Guendouzi for just £8 million, just as outrageous in today’s market.

Both players have adapted instantly to the Premier League and Guendouzi has the makings of a superstar.

Alli and Guendouzi are different types of midfielders, with the Arsenal ace more of a creator than a goalscorer, but their early impact is comparable.

It must be galling then for Tottenham that they could have had both.

Last December Spurs were linked by SkySports with a swoop on Guendouzi, but did not act on their interest.

Arsenal met Lorient’s demands in the summer and appear to have a real gem on their hands, so much so, that it’s unlikely Gooners would swap him for the Spurs midfielder.
