Some Liverpool fans on social media are now convinced that Georginio Wijnaldum is leaving the club after his €10m (£8.7m) wage demands were reported.
The Dutch midfielder’s future has been up in the air for a while now, and as his contract ticks towards it’s expiry, speculation is amping up.
Reports in Italy suggest that he’s asking for €10m a year from any club who wants him next season, and Liverpool fans seem to believe that’s the final nail in the coffin of his Anfield career.
To be fair, we can understand why.
That sort of wage would be monstrous for even a club of Liverpool’s stature. It would make him their fifth-highest earner, and that’s why some Reds supporters think he’ll be on his way this summer.
Of course, whether or not Wijnaldum does end up leaving Anfield remains to be seen, but this update has convinced many Liverpool fans that he’ll be departing at the end of the season.
