Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are sick over Dwight Gayle’s miss for Newcastle United on Sunday evening.
Manchester City beat the Magpies 2-0 at St James’s Park to tee up an FA Cup semi-final with Arsenal at Wembley next month.
Thing is, it might’ve ended with the Gunners preparing to face Newcastle instead of Pep Guardiola’s side, who hammered them 3-0 earlier this month in the Premier League.
When City were leading 1-0, Gayle, a £10 million signing in 2016, missed an open goal and the Citizens made it 2-0 less than a minute later.
It was already confirmed that Arsenal would face the winner of last night’s tie at the time of Gayle’s gaffe.
And here’s how fans of the North London club reacted on Twitter:
Even had Gayle scored, City probably still would’ve won.
The visitors had a whopping 76 percent possession, and 20 shots on goal in comparison to Newcastle’s four.
But it’s a game of fine margins and you can see why some Arsenal fans were frustrated, especially because reaching the FA Cup final is a much easier task if they were slated to face the St James’s Park club.
