Tottenham fans have defended Gedson Fernandes’ performance in the FA Cup on Sunday after his side breezed past non-league side Marine.
Spurs recorded five goals on the day, with Fernandes starting in the middle of the park and playing the entire match.
The 22-year-old is on-loan at Tottenham from Benfica and he is still trying to get his feet warm in English football.
But a selection of Spurs fans on Twitter weren’t pleased with the stick the forward-thinking player was getting for yesterday’s display.
They feel that patience is required with Fernandes and he was better than what is being made out.
It hasn’t exactly been plain sailing for Fernandes since he joined Spurs because the club itself has been trying to pick themselves up from the floor after going backwards last season.
That doesn’t help someone like Fernandes’ cause because it makes his progression that little tougher.
