Hastings United have announced on their official website that young midfielder Adam Lovatt will undergo a five-day trial with Leeds United in December.

The club have confirmed on their official website that there is plenty of interest in the starlet. But it appears that Leeds have put themselves in the driving seat to bag his signature with the Championship side taking him on a five-day trial.

Hastings currently find themselves flying high in the eighth tier of English football, so it arguably says a lot about Lovatt’s apparent potential that Leeds, and several other sides, have taken note of his promise.

Leeds have had some luck when they have signed players from the non-league game. Ryan Edmondson joined from York City last year and quickly rose through the ranks. The 17-year-old is now on the periphery of the first-team and has already made a couple of appearances for the senior side.

Meanwhile, Sam Dalby is another young striker who is catching the eye with the under-23s. The 18-year-old arrived from Leyton Orient during the most recent January window after 17 first-team appearances at Brisbane Road.

It remains to be seen whether Lovatt will do enough to become the latest non-league prospect to make the move to Thorp Arch. But perhaps he will be a youngster to keep an eye out for over the coming years.
