Hasselbaink used to play alongside Lampard and Terry – who will be contesting the Championship playoff final – at Chelsea.

Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has spoken highly of former Stamford Bridge teammates Frank Lampard and John Terry, whose Derby County and Aston Villa teams will be contesting the Championship playoff final at Wembley on Monday.
Lampard has enjoyed a bright debut campaign as Rams manager, steering the East Midlands side into the playoffs on the final day of the season before overcoming Leeds United in the semi-finals.
Terry, meanwhile, is assistant coach at Villa Park, part of Dean Smith’s contingent which hit form at just the right time this season to surge into the top six before seeing off West Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion in the semis.
Hasselbaink, who was at Chelsea between 2000 and 2004, paid tribute to both ex-teammates’ leadership qualities, saying they might have different traits – Terry being more vocal and Lampard a bit quieter – but both are nonetheless leaders.
“They have both got leadership,” the Dutchman told Sky Sports News. “Frank is a lot quieter. JT was more vocal but you could see that he was a leader.

“You would always think JT would become a manager but Frank was a leader in his own right, not as vocal but always doing the right thing. Always leading forward, always taking people with him but more in a quieter way. They both have got that quality of being a leader and they both have won a lot in this game so they can give that experience to their players.”
Derby will be hoping to put several years of playoff hurt behind them and return to the Premier League for the first time since 2007-08, also hoping to exorcise the demons of that particular season should they get there.
Villa, meanwhile, have endured a few tricky years, dropping out of the top flight in 2016 and losing last year’s playoff final before an anxious summer of financial uncertainty and subsequently a largely underwhelming season until March’s superb upturn in form.
