Tim Sherwood told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (20/02/21 at 1:30 pm) that Davinson Sanchez ‘hasn’t been fantastic’ for Tottenham.

The 24-year-old started Tottenham’s previous Premier League meeting when they were well-beaten by Manchester City.

A comical moment ensued for the Spurs centre-back when he ended up flat on his face after trying to defend Ederson’s long-range pass, which resulted in Ilkay Gundogan putting the game to bed.

Going from their last league encounter, Sherwood expects Sanchez to drop the bench, as he shared who is Tottenham’s best pairing at the back.

“Sanchez hasn’t been fantastic, we have to say that,” said Sherwood. “I think if he goes tomorrow (against West Ham) then I think the best two are Dier and Alderweireld.”

Whatever centre-back pairing Jose Mourinho tries today against West Ham, more than likely, it will result in problems for the Spurs coach.

Nothing seems to be working for Mourinho at the back, as every senior player has showcased a problem of some sort.

Given that both Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier started their Europa League win on Thursday night, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Mourinho stick with that duo.
