Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has not started a league game for the Ibrox side this season.

There is no doubt that Allan McGregor was one of the few Rangers players who emerged from Sunday’s Old Firm game with pass marks for his performance, with the goalkeeper arguably the Gers’ best player as Steven Gerrard tasted defeat for the first time as a manager.
McGregor made a string of sensational saves to deny Celtic at various stages during the 1-0 defeat, and his display further proved that bringing him back in the summer was a masterstroke from the Light Blues.
However, it remains to be seen if the 36-year-old features in Rangers’ clash with Dundee following the international break after an incident at Parkhead involving Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer.
McGregor may not have made much contact, but the goalkeeper undoubtedly kicked his leg out towards Ajer in a manner that may leave many Rangers fans fearing the stopper to receive a retrospective ban once the incident is reviewed.

It would be a major setback for McGregor, but perhaps a suspension may provide teammate Wes Foderingham with the lifeline that he needs having been relegated to being the summer signing’s understudy since his return to Ibrox.
The Englishman – who was linked with a move away this summer, as reported by The Scottish Sun – is yet to feature in the league this season and has only made one appearance in the League Cup thus far, but he would presumably get the nod if Gerrard cannot use McGregor.
It would take something incredible from Foderingham if he does get a chance, but if he can put together a run of stunning performances, then perhaps he can wrestle the number one spot back off McGregor.

As superb as McGregor has been, Gerrard would have a tough time justifying dropping Foderingham if he comes back into the side and proves to be in inspired form, and that could perhaps leave McGregor as the one having to bide his time.
A ban for McGregor would be a huge blow for Rangers, but if it does happen, Foderingham needs to look at his rival’s setback as a massive opportunity.
