Laurens De Bock had a very mixed game for Leeds United.
Laurens De Bock has been a regular at Leeds United since joining in January – but his time at the club has been tough so far.
His debut was a chaotic 4-3 defeat to Millwall and while he has not been the source of the problems at the club, he has not helped their cause much either.
Last night against Derby County he had his worst game yet for Leeds in a 2-2 draw.
He was slammed by former Leeds striker Noel Whelan, who told BBC Radio Leeds: “He’s been stinking.
“He had a horrible game. He’ll be the first to admit it if he’s honest with himself.”
He made three errors in the first half an hour against the Rams and then his mix-up with Liam Cooper let in Andreas Weimann to score an equaliser just before half-time.
To De Bock’s credit it was his wonderful cross field pass which set Stuart Dallas free to cross for Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s opener.
If this had come in any other game his pass would have been a big talking point, but it came surrounded by a performance littered with errors.
He may be Leeds’ first choice left-back but they have alternatives.
Both Gaetano Berardi and Vurnon Anita can play the position and Stuart Dallas has filled in there too.
If De Bock does not raise his game then he could find himself dropped, and he was fortunate not to be taken off at half-time.
There is a lot of pressure on technical director Victor Orta after a number of his signings have struggled.
Now there has to be a real fear that the Spaniard has delivered another dud.
