Jack Marriott and Marcus Maddison are two of the best players in League One, and there is no surprise that the Peterborough United duo have been linked with Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday among other clubs.

According to Sky Sports, Rangers, Wednesday and Forest all are interested in signing the 23-year-old striker from Peterborough in the summer transfer window.

The Sun has credited Leeds and Villa with interest in Marriott, who scored 27 goals in League One for Posh last season, while The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 17:24pm, June 25, 2018) claimed that Derby want the striker (click here to read more).

Leeds Live has claimed that Leeds want Maddison as well, while The Nottingham Post has credited Forest with interest in the Peterborough midfielder and The Reading Chronicle has reported of Derby’s interest in the 24-year-old.

With so many clubs reportedly interested in Marriott and Maddison, it does seem that it is only a matter of time before the duo leave.

Peterborough manager Steve Evans, who has managed Leads among other clubs in his career, has given a strong hint that he will not have the two star players in his squad for next season.

Speaking to The Peterborough Telegraph at the weekend after Peterborough’s win against Bedford Town, Evans said: “I was pleased with them all. The conditions weren’t easy, but we scored some great goals, we showed good commitment to get into the box and we switched the play well.

“It was tough to pick the best goal today because Tyler and Siriki scored stunners, while one of the Bedford goals was also fantastic.

“We need to score goals from more areas this season as we won’t be able to rely on Jack Marriott and Marcus Maddison.”

Evans’s comments suggest that he is already planning for like without Marriott and Maddison, meaning that the duo will leave in the summer transfer window.

Whether Forest or Derby are able to sign them remains to be seen.
