Rumours suggest that Sadiq has had his Rangers loan cut short already.

Recent reports have suggested that Umar Sadiq’s season-long loan at Rangers has been cancelled this week, and the striker himself may have just confirmed those rumours to be true on Instagram.

The Scottish Sun report that the 21-year-old has been sent home to parent club AS Roma, after failing to make an impact at Ibrox under Steven Gerrard. He managed just four appearances for the senior side.

A Nigeria international, the signing of Sadiq was met with excitement as the colossal striker has scored goals for Roma’s senior side as well as Dutch Eredivisie side NAC Breda last season.

But it simply did not work for Sadiq, and he may now have confirmed the Scottish Sun’s report on Instagram by posting a picture on his story alongside AS Roma defender Abdullahi Nura.

Sadiq made substitute appearances against NK Maribor in the Europa League, St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership and Kilmarnock in the League Cup. But his big chance came when starting up front against Aberdeen in the semi-final.

However, a non-effective display was overshadowed by his shocking dive when taking the ball past Dons goalkeeper Lewis. Instead of tapping the ball into the net to equalise, Sadiq decided to throw himself to the floor in search of a penalty.

He has failed to play since that match, which saw rumours begin to circulate that he has been sent packing. His Instagram suggests as much, with Nura currently in the reserves at Roma.
