Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer business this summer finally looks to be kicking into gear, as the summer window moves towards its deadline day. But after confirming a deal for talented Argentinian defender Juan Foyth and with a move for Serge Aurier edging closer, according to Sky Sports, have the north Londoners targeted the right areas of the team?

With those two moves going through, Spurs will have bought three defenders and a goalkeeper this summer, seemingly ignoring the more necessary improvements that needed to be made in other areas of the pitch.

Though anything can happen on deadline day, Mauricio Pochettino could end up with fewer options further forward than he had last season considering Josh Onomah’s departure on loan, despite supporters championing options to come in for first choice players Harry Kane and Mousa Dembele, and a top class alternative in the wide areas.

Spurs boasted both the best defence and the best attack in the league in the 2016/17 campaign, and though they have seen first-teamers Kyle Walker and Kevin Wimmer leave the club, while Pau Lopez returned to Spain and Cameron Carter-Vickers has headed to Sheffield United on loan – seemingly explaining the incomings – it is a surprise that midfield and attack are yet to be addressed.

Fans may be hoping that a firming up of interest in Ross Barkley, via the Standard, and a move for Liverpool’s Belgian forward Divock Origi, as mooted by the Independent, could freshen up these areas.

But with plenty of other rumours swirling, it could yet be an exciting and unpredictable resolution to the summer window for Pochettino’s squad.

A Rafael van der Vaart kind of arrival would certainly put a cockerel among the pigeons.

But what do the fans think? Are you surprised there hasn’t been any changes made in the midfield and attacking areas of the squad? Or do you expect more activity tomorrow?
