The Aston Villa defender has watched from the bench as they have taken six points from their last two matches.

Aston Villa appear to have turned a corner under manager Steve Bruce, winning their last two matches and doing so without the presence of defender Tommy Elphick.
The former Bournemouth man was captaining the side at the start of the campaign, but given his poor form in recent months, it is no surprise to see Villa racking up back-to-back wins in his absence.
The majority of Villa fans have been calling it for weeks – drop Elphick, partner James Chester with Nathan Baker and let an effective long-term partnership develop.
Bruce appears to feel the same, albeit belatedly, and given Villa’s recent results it is hard to see Elphick making another meaningful start this season.
Much will depend on the availability of Baker, who seems to be over his injury problems yet will always be a worry given his history, but assuming he and Chester stay fit, they will surely start week in, week out as Villa look to maintain their fine form and move up the table in the process.
Only time will tell what the future brings for Elphick. However this Villa side are a better defensive unit without him and if Bruce shares that opinion it could be a premature end for the one-time skipper.
