But the Spurs playmaker, who also produced a crunching tackle on the PSG man during the game, had the last laugh.
Argentina secured a 1-0 win against their South American rivals at Rio’s Maracana stadium to win their first Copa title in 28 years.
It’s staggering to think that a player of Lionel Messi’s qualities has had to wait until he is 34-years-old to bring international glory to his nation.
