Jurgen Klopp has been told to recall Fabinho to the first XI for Liverpool’s upcoming clash with Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Reds manager has dropped Fabinho for the past two games, including Sunday’s 3-2 defeat by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool have only won two of their first eight Premier League outings this season, culminating in them enduring their worst start to a campaign for no fewer than 10 years.

And John Aldridge has told The Echo that it is imperative for the Brazil international – a £40 million signing in 2018 [The Guardian] – to come back in when facing Erling Haaland and City this weekend.

He said: “Fabinho has to play against City. You have to have defensive players on the pitch who can do a job.”

Even with Fabinho, Liverpool might still be underdogs and that’s saying something.

There’s much greater problems at Anfield right now than just whether or not the former Monaco midfielder plays.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is suffering from a major crisis in confidence and Mohamed Salah is starting to look like a ‘ghost’ of himself, according to Frank Leboeuf.

Things don’t look all that promising for Liverpool against Pep Guardiola’s side, it has to be said.
