Aberdeen supported infuriated after another limp performance against Rangers, losing at Ibrox again.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is seen during the William Hill Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden Park on May 27, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Graeme Murty’s Rangers took on Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen last night but it was almost a very different scenario.

Rangers had tried to appoint McInnes and this speculation overshadowed the last two meetings between the clubs, before the Aberdeen boss eventually decided to stay put at Pittodrie.

Last night suggested that his snub could actually have done Rangers a favour.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Graeme Murty, who led Rangers to two wins over Aberdeen earlier in the season, was appointed as manager until the end of the season and has been highly impressive.

Last night he made it a hat-trick of wins over Aberdeen as the Gers won 2-0.

The result had Rangers fans feeling like they had a lucky escape, and for Aberdeen supporters it was a sense of deja vu.

McInnes has a terrible record against Celtic and Rangers, and seeing his side falter again was oh so familiar.

There was no answer after going a goal down to Alfredo Morelos’ opener, and Aberdeen are now back down to third place behind Rangers.

Aberdeen fans want a change of result against the Glasgow clubs, and for some, this even means changing the manager.
