Tim Sherwood told Premier League Productions that Hugo Lloris should have been playing a ‘higher’ line when Tottenham conceded their third goal against Manchester City on Saturday.
Whilst one keeper in Ederson was lapping it up on one end for his assist, another in Tottenham’s man between the stick was being questioned for his positioning.
Ilkay Gündogan, who has turned into prime Kaka since December, made a clever run off Davinson Sanchez after Ederson’s clever ball over the top.
Tottenham’s centre-back couldn’t deal with the run, nor did he read it quick enough, as he fell flat on his face as Gündogan netted his second of the game and Man City’s third.
But given Tottenham’s high line when Ederson played that ball, Sherwood felt that Lloris should have also been higher up, and if he was, then he would have been able to intercept the ball that was fed to the Man City player.
“The Tottenham line, the goalkeeper has to be higher if they are going to have a high line,” said Sherwood.
“When they (Man City) go back (to Ederson), they (Spurs) come up far too high. If they come up high, he (Lloris) has to be here (outside of his penalty area).
“It’s a great pass. Sanchez has to head it. He should head it but he squares him up and then sits him down. Sanchez, bless him, he tries to win it with his head in the end. It’s desperate measures.”

There have been a number of questionable moments in recent weeks from Tottenham’s £8 million shot-stopper (Independent), who didn’t have a great time against Everton in midweek either.
Whilst that FA Cup clash at Goodison was a lot crazier because nine goals were scored, Lloris’ lack of shot-stopping was still being questioned.
Either way, the spotlight will be shining bright on the Frenchman now because continued performances like this will worry those in North London.
