Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said on the club’s official website that Rhian Brewster ‘has to become more involved’.
Brewster scored twice for Liverpool in their pre-season friendly against Red Bull Salzburg yesterday, to increase the calls for him to be given a first-team place at Anfield over the season ahead.
Klopp has so far refrained from using Brewster with any regularity, but he is now pushing hard for a spot in Liverpool’s team.
The youngster enjoyed a wonderful loan spell with Swansea City last term, and his start to life in pre-season has been very impressive.
But Klopp still feels that there are improvements that the youngster can make.
“Rhian is a young boy and he knows that,” he said.
“He can learn a lot of things but he’s a natural goalscorer – that’s what he is.
“He has to be more involved in the game when he’s on the pitch, but I have to say in the decisive moments he’s 100 per cent there.
“I like that a lot and he’s a wonderful kid, so that’s all good. If you score three goals in two games, it’s not a bad number and that’s OK.”
The Daily Mirror have suggested that a clutch of Premier League clubs want to take Brewster on loan from Liverpool, but it is still unclear whether he will be made available.

If Brewster keeps scoring over pre-season then Klopp may well decide to keep him at Anfield, and he could take Divock Origi’s place as first reserve for Liverpool’s attack.
Origi has shown a happy knack of scoring important goals for Liverpool, but there is a feeling he could be upgraded.
And with Brewster pushing him hard now, the Belgian’s first-team spot is surely under pressure.
