Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen praised Everton-owned Matthew Pennington’s performance against Millwall.
Leeds United have seen a number of red cards and dismissals in recent weeks. Samuel Saiz, Eunan O’Kane and Liam Cooper all have been sent off and have suspensions hanging on them.
Cooper is the latest Leeds player to get dismissed. The defender was given his marching orders in the 37th minute of the Championship game against Millwall at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Given the suspensions that the West Yorkshire outfit have had, many would expect the club to address the situation and perhaps sign players in the January transfer window.
After all, this is a very important period in Leeds’s quest to finish in the top six of the Championship table.
The Whites are as low as 10th in the league table at the moment, and they cannot afford to lose any more ground on the top six.
Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen, though, seems to have suggested that he will not sign players to cope with suspensions, using 23-year-old Everton-owned Matthew Pennington as an example to suggest that he does not need new players.
Pennington came on as a substitute in the 43rd minute of the match against Millwall.
When asked by Leeds Live if he needs to sign more players in January due to suspensions, Christiansen said: “You saw Pennington in the second half, you like?”
In response to “He did well” reply, Christiansen said: “Me too.”
