The agent of West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek insists that the Czech Republic international has the ‘potential’ to play for Premier League champions Manchester City one day, while speaking to Aktualne

It has not been a bad couple of weeks for Pavel Paska and his International Sports Management agency.

As the Czech Republic stormed to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020, some of Paska’s most high-profile clients enhanced their reputations on the biggest of stages, with Lukas Masopust, Adam Hlozek and the five-goal Patrik Schick doing their chances of a big-money move to a continental giant no harm at all.

Fortunately for West Ham fans, there is no reason to suggest that Soucek will be on his way any time soon, with three years remaining on the contract he signed when completing a £19 million move from Slavia Prague in the summer of 2020.

But when pressed on whether the powerhouse midfielder could afford to aim higher than the Hammers as he enters the prime of his career, Paska was reluctant to rule anything out.

Could West Ham’s Tomas Soucek play for Man City?

“In the new season, (Soucek and Schick) will have to build on their performances at the Euros – either in their league or in the European competition,” Paska said when discussing whether two of Czech Republic’s star players could thrive at Manchester City or Barcelona.

“This is necessary so that they can improve even further. But I believe it, they both have the potential to do it (join City or Barca).”

The Athletic reported back in December, when Soucek was being linked with a move to Bayern Munich, that the 6ft 4ins giant would cost a minimum of £50 million these days.

Furthermore, with no release clause in his contract, West Ham are under no pressure to cash in any time soon.
