Georges-Kevin N’Koudou’s loan exit to Burnley could potentially open the door for Tottenham youth sensation Marcus Edwards.
Edwards is regarded as Tottenham’s brightest young talent, starring for the under-23s and England’s youth sides.
But as far as first team chances go, Edwards has found it tough to kick on since making his debut in late 2016.
N’Koudou has been ahead of him in the first team pecking order, but has so far failed to impress head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Now he is on loan at Burnley, the former Marseille winger hopes to return to Spurs an even better player next season.
N’Koudou’s move to Burnley temporarily at least reduces the competition Edwards faces at Tottenham Hotspur for a place.
It is an obstacle removed from his path, and the young winger needs to use this time to kick on.
Next season N’Koudou could be back, and even more entrenched in the team if he has a successful spell at Turf Moor.
This makes it even more essential that Edwards proves himself between now and the end of the season and works his way into Tottenham’s first team.
The FA Cup clash away to Newport County could be one potential opportunity for him.
The door may just have opened for the promising young winger, and he must take full advantage.
