Watch HITC Sport’s preview as Sunderland travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Boxing Day.
Sunderland’s game with Manchester United will present David Moyes with his first opportunity to head back to Old Trafford since his sacking as manager in 2014. But will he still head into the fixture believing that he has a point to prove to his former employers?
HITC Sport’s Michael Ramsey and James Rutherford have suggested that he probably will have one eye on sending a message to the Red Devils hierarchy.
“I think he’ll have a bit of an agenda, there’s going to be a bit of revenge in store because he was shafted at Old Trafford,” Michael suggests.

“He did poorly but he had one of the most difficult jobs in football following Sir Alex Ferguson,” James added.
“That team that Fergie left him with was one of the poorer teams Fergie’s had.”
While the pair think that Moyes will want to prove a point, it will surely be much more easier said than done.
The Black Cats go into the fixture having enjoyed their best run of the campaign so far, having won four of their last seven. Nevertheless, they still appear to be in some trouble as they remain inside the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, United are also enjoying their best spell since Jose Mourinho’s appointment. They have won their last four in all competitions and have not lost in the league since October.

That form has seen them move into genuine contention for a top four spot in the top flight, and they will undoubtedly be confident that they will extend their winning run on Boxing Day.
Nevertheless, Michael has suggested that a shock could well be on the cards, and perhaps Moyes will get his revenge after all?
