Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has suggested on social networking site Twitter that the Black Cats are set to miss out on a summer transfer target.

Donald has revealed on Twitter that Sunderland had agreed a fee and personal terms with him, but the player – who has not been named – wants to see if he can get a move to a club in the Championship.

Sunderland owner Donald wrote on Twitter while replying to a fan: “We r trying hard. EG – we agree a fee 4 a player & personal terms.

“We want him Monday to come & sign but he now says he wants to see if he can get a move to Championship!.

“Fair enough but we were committed to pay money to sign him. It will happen – I am frustrated too!!”

Donald has also revealed on Twitter that Sunderland have made three bids for strikers.

The Sunderland owner wrote on Twitter while replying to a fan: “Agreed – yes 3 bids. I has gone out our price range but 3 left. All good strikers. We see what you see.”

Busy summer for Sunderland

Sunderland have been quite busy so far in the summer transfer window and have made a number of signings.

Among the players manager Jack Ross has bright to the Stadium of Light are Tom Flanagan, Dylan McGeouch and Glenn Loovens.

The Black Cats will be aiming to win automatic promotion from League One to the Championship next season.

It is not going to be easy, but if Sunderland are able to sign a few more quality players, then they will be firm favourites to win the league title.
