Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are said to be set to win the race for Joe Aribo.

Glasgow Rangers may be at risk of offering Joe Aribo too much too soon in an attempt to bring him to Ibrox.

Rangers have been battling with a range of other clubs for the signature of Aribo this summer, after he has become a free agent, as reported by Goal.

According to the according to the Daily Mail (17 June, page 77), Rangers are set to win the race to sign Aribo – and that is partly because the Ibrox side have offered him a massive contract.

Aribo is set to come in and Rangers and immediately become one of their top earners.

The 22-year-old has been offered a £20,000-a-week contract at Rangers, and Steven Gerrard’s side may be making a mistake.

While it is good to see Rangers showing ambition, it is questionable whether Aribo deserves to immediately become a top earner upon signing at Ibrox.

Aribo has not made a mark at any level above League One in England, and even though the 22-year-old is a bright prospect, Rangers could now face having to raise their wage bill.

Other potential signings are going to see the wages that Rangers are offering Aribo and at least want parity, and some members of their current squad may also feel that are due a pay rise.

And while Aribo’s arrival at Rangers is still an exciting one, offering such big wages to him means that Gerrard’s men need the transfer to be a success.
