Aston Villa appear as if they could be searching for a central-midfielder in January, after Steve Bruce’s reaction to Mile Jedinak’s injury.
Mile Jedinak has damaged his shoulder and is set to be out for the long-term, as Villa’s injury problems have worsened.
Villa are already without John Terry and Jonathan Kodjia, so to lose Jedinak was a bitter blow.
And Bruce has suggested that he will look to bring in additions in January, to cover for his absences.
“Fair play to the squad, they’ve coped with it well so far,” Bruce said. “But certainly with January around, let’s hope we can add to us, to help us along the way.”
Villa’s desire to add a striker was well known, but bringing in a midfielder does seem to be on Bruce’s wishlist now.
Villa are battling with Financial Fair Play, which means Bruce’s options are limited in the January transfer window.
The claret and blues only have a small transfer budget, which could mean that loan deals are particularly appealing.
Villa have been in excellent form of late, and have climbed into the thick of the promotion battle.
Bruce’s side are next in action tomorrow evening, when they take on Leeds United.
