Newcastle United winger Kenedy has been on loan at St. James’ Park for the entirety of 2018.

Newcastle United may have been offered hope that Kenedy’s move could be made permanent, as the Chronicle reports that they could be planning to break their transfer record in January.

Newcastle haven’t broken their transfer record since 2005, when they signed Michael Owen for a fee of £17 million.

But Mike Ashley is reportedly considering loosening the purse-strings in a bid to convince Rafael Benitez to stay.

Newcastle’s top targets are not yet clear, but it is fair to suggest that Kenedy should be a leading candidate.

Kenedy has spent the whole of 2019 on loan at Newcastle, but the move has not become a permanent one, due to Benitez’s lack of funds.

However, with Newcastle having more money to spend, tying down Kenedy should be considered a priority.

The 22-year-old Brazilian clearly has the potential to be one of the leading lights in Newcastle’s team.

And if Benitez is given money to spend then breaking his transfer record on Kenedy would be his safest bet at a successful addition.
