Soares, though, seems to have indicated on Twitter that he will stay at Southampton, suggesting that he is looking forward to the start of the new Premier League season.
Soares has been on the books of Southampton since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Sporting Lisbon for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £4.7 million.
The right-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Italian giants Inter Milan, making three starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A, providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
