Newcastle United’s run of four straight victories came to an end last night.
Newcastle have enjoyed a fine run of form of late, which has propelled them to safety.
However, the Magpies came undone at Goodison Park yesterday – as they were beaten 1-0 by Everton.
The Toffees scored through Theo Walcott, and Benitez has claimed that the difference between the two sides was the amount of experience Everton had in their ranks.
“If you do the numbers, it is very easy. The difference is they have players with experience in the Premier League,” Benitez said.
“I don’t know how much they spent this year exactly, but it is very simple. For us to come here and expect to beat them; it is not easy.
“We have a chance but normally, when you go away against these teams, it is not easy to get anything.”
Newcastle have coped with a young squad this season, but Benitez has suggested that he wants the Magpies to push on next term.
The Spanish boss has insisted that he will remain on Tyneside, if he is given a budget to move the side forward.
And it seems that Benitez will be targeting some more experienced players, if he does remain in charge.
Newcastle are currently in 10th place in the Premier League table, but Benitez has recently expressed a desire to start helping his side challenge for Europe and compete for trophies.
