Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters following his side’s bitterly disappointing defeat to fierce rivals Chelsea in the semi final of the FA Cup, and praised how far they have progressed as a team over the past couple of years, as quoted by the Evening Standard.
The Argentine did urge caution, however, with regards to Tottenham’s activity in the transfer market, suggesting that they will have to be clever when they go about their business.
The problem for the Lilywhites is that in order to strengthen their squad they will have to spend some serious money, because of the current state of the transfer market.
Pocehttino, though, seemed to suggest that Spurs will have to be smart in their recruitment, possibly as a result of their impending stadium move, when speaking to reporters, as quoted by the Evening Standard:
“Two years ago it was difficult to think and to arrive in that level, to wish that we fight for the Premier League. Now it’s a reality. It’s important to be clever in how we develop the team, how we build the team over the next few years. We will try next season for sure.”

The North London outfit are of course still well in contention to win their first league title since 1961, with just four points separating them and league leaders Chelsea.
And they will undoubtedly have to invest in their playing staff over the summer, irrespective of whether they win the league or not.
Tottenham fans might just have to prepare themselves for an underwhelming transfer window, however, as far as expenditure on players s concerned.
Pochettino has been renowned for bringing through talented youngsters from the Spurs academy during his time in charge at White Hart Lane, and that trend could very well continue as the club head into a new era.
