Patrick Roberts joined Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic on loan from Manchester City in the summer of 2017.

Roberts joined Scottish Premiership side Celtic on a season-long loan from Premier League club City in the summer of 2017.
This is the 21-year-old former Fulham winger’s second spell at the Hoops, and it is not going according to plan.
The Englishman has had injury concerns, and it is going to be hard for him to reclaim his place in the Celtic starting lineup due to the form of fellow winger James Forrest.
Roberts has suggested that he is confident of breaking into the City team, having moved to the Citizens from Fulham in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £11 million.

Roberts told The Daily Record: “I’ve been concentrating on getting fit so haven’t had any conversations with Celtic or City yet.
“I’ve been making sure both my legs are tip-top condition because without them I don’t have a future!
“City are doing well and playing good football. It took the manager a season to get his football across but they’re now blowing the Premier League away.
“Personally, I’ve always believed in my ability and always will – no matter who or what I’m up against.”

Hint on future
While Roberts makes it clear that he has not had any conversation about his future with Celtic or City, his comments do suggest that he could return to the Etihad Stadium, at least for pre-season.
Although the youngster is doing well at Celtic Park and is an important player in Brendan Rodgers’s side, it would make perfect sense for him to return to City and try to impress manager Pep Guardiola.
