One-time Everton target Nabil Fekir is going from strength to strength this season.
The playmaker has netted 16 goals in 19 Ligue 1 starts this season and his latest moment of magic was likely to have Lyon CEO Jean-Michel Aulas rubbing his hands together after the 24-year-old undoubtedly added to his valuation on Sunday night.
Fekir opened the scoring in last night’s 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain with a wonderful free kick inside two minutes and, given the stage, you wonder if the French star is now destined for bigger and better things than Everton can offer.
Back in November, The Sun reported that Arsenal would have to stump up around £60 million to prise him from Lyon but considering the fact that he hasn’t stopped scoring since, he is likely worth much more and the Toffees surely can’t compete in terms of the allure that his soon-to-be suitors can offer.
Two-and-a-half years ago The Liverpool Echo reported that then-manager Roberto Martinez was considering bringing him to Goodison Park and though the report does not name a price, he obviously would have been a hell of a lot more affordable back then.
Not that Everton couldn’t afford him nowadays, but his star is rising rapidly and swapping the Ligue 1 club for Merseyside isn’t a huge step up for him and he is likely to have much more tempting offers in the summer if this form continues.
