One Tottenham Hotspur player who needs a lot more game time this season is Ryan Sessegnon.
The former Fulham star joined Spurs in a £20 million deal last summer but managed only six Premier League appearances – and none when football resumed in June, though he was injured.
But Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho might’ve just hinted that he has a bigger role in mind for Sessegnon for the 2020-21 campaign.
Mourinho revealed via Football London on Friday that Danny Rose is free to leave North London.
Rose, like Sessegnon, is a left-back and a departure for the 30-year-old could, in theory, lead to the 20-year-old being given more chances.
In fact, the Portuguese also intimated that the youngster would get a bigger role, claiming that he is an ‘an investment that we want to improve’.
Having cost £20 million, Sessegnon was definitely a fairly hefty investment by the Lilywhites and the truth is that he can’t have another season like last term.
That’s more than Daniel Levy spent on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or Matt Doherty this summer, so as much as Mourinho is willing to give Sessegnon chances, he has to make sure he takes them.
Mourinho’s side kick off their Premier League season with a visit of Everton on Sunday.
