Tottenham Hotspur fans were frustrated with their club’s lack of activity during the summer transfer window.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media yesterday, ahead of his side’s trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Monday night, and responded when asked whether three keys players could still leave the club before the end of the month, as quoted by Football.London.
Spurs failed to sign a single player during the summer transfer window, and as things stand, they will surely have their work cut-out, if they are to finish inside the top four of the Premier League table again this season.
With that in mind, the Lilywhites surely cannot afford to lose any more players before the end of month.
Pochettino refused to rule out any player sales between now and August 31st, however, responding to reporters when asked whether Tottenham could still sell Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose or Mousa Dembele, as quoted by Football.London:
“I am working like if all the players will still be here. I cannot work thinking if they are going to be here tomorrow or not. Not only these names, different names. Can arrive an offer from a different club for number one, number 26, 27, 28 – players that we have. Maybe tomorrow or this afternoon arrive an offer, we will consider it. But you are focused on different names but we are focused in trying and taking the best decision to provide them the opportunity to play if they deserve.”
Whilst Spurs have cover for all of those players mentioned, selling them would surely be a kamikaze approach, considering the fact that they cannot strengthen their squad until January.
It will be interesting to see what happens, though, should Tottenham receive big offers for any of their players before the end of the month.
And judging by Poch’s comments, they could still lose some of their key men, should they receive acceptable offers.
