Tottenham Hotspur failed to bring in even one new signing during the summer transfer window.
Mauricio Pochettino may have just hinted at his frustration about Tottenham Hotspur’s lack of spending over the summer.
Spurs failed to bring in one new player in the previous transfer window, but Pochettino has deliberately played down any frustrations so far.
Pochettino has been cautious to criticise Spurs’ lack of spending in the media but, perhaps, his real feelings may have crept out as frustrations rise.
Tottenham have lost their last two games, with Pochettino seemingly unable to rotate his squad, due to a lack of depth.
Spurs were outplayed by Liverpool in their last contest, and were beaten 2-1.
And Pochettino’s comments in his last press conference certainly read as though his annoyance may be creeping out.
He said to Football.London: “I told you after the Watford game, I was so worried and upset after the defeat. I was so disappointed with everything but not after Liverpool.
“When you play against a team who fought for the Premier League and play the Champions League final vs Real Madrid last season. And then signed players, and tried again to win titles and be one of the best teams in Europe, there’s nothing to complain about.”
Pochettino’s comments that Liverpool are ‘trying to win the title’ may just hint at some frustration.
Tottenham finished above Liverpool in the Premier League last term, but the Argentine boss now seemingly feels his side cannot compete.
And unless Tottenham start getting back to winning ways, Pochettino’s frustrations could start to boil over.
