Toby Alderweireld surprisingly remains at Tottenham Hotspur following the closure of the English transfer window.

Alderweireld barely featured last term, and was widely expected to leave Tottenham this summer.
However, the Belgian still remains at Tottenham, following the closure of the English transfer window.
While Alderweireld could move abroad, the links appear to have gone quiet, and Pochettino may have hinted that he will incorporate the 29-year-old back into Tottenham’s starting line-up in the coming weeks.
“I’m going to rotate in the next few weeks, trying to give the possibility to all the players to play and be important,” Pochettino said.
“I told them yesterday for me it’s like we start from zero. I asked them with the possibility that they are going to have they need to trust. All the players who want to stay in Tottenham they need to show their commitment and their commitment until the end is not one week, two weeks, one month. If they choose to stay in Tottenham the rules are so clear.”

If Spurs can get Alderweireld back playing and performing at the top of his game then Pochettino’s side will unquestionably be improved by his inclusion.
Alderweireld was once regarded as arguably the finest defender in the Premier League, before injury and his failure to sign a new Spurs contract curtailed his progress.
Alderweireld’s re-inclusion into Tottenham’s team could enable Pochettino to switch to a 3-5-2 formation, with Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez taking the other centre-back slots.
