Liverpool have been linked with Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, while Philippe Coutinho is reportedly wanted by Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Liverpool should sell Philippe Coutinho in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool attacking midfielder Coutinho has been linked with a move to Spanish and European giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to The Mirror, Barcelona are interested in signing the Brazil international, who can also operate as a winger, and will make a bid of £80 million.

Former Southampton attacking midfielder Le Tissier, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has suggested on Twitter that Liverpool should sell the 25-year-old so that he does not go on strike.

The former England international’s comment appears to be a sly dig at Liverpool for their (reported) pursuit of Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.

According to The Daily Mail, the former Celtic defender is training on his own after telling Southampton that he wants to leave St. Mary’s Stadium in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Liverpool have been in touch with the Saints regarding the transfer of the 26-year-old Netherlands international centre-back, who is valued at around £50m by Southampton.
