The West Ham United manager made what now seems like an inspiring decision by keeping hold of Robert Snodgrass in the summer.
It seemed for all the world that Robert Snodgrass would leave West Ham during the summer transfer window, having spent the previous season out on loan with Aston Villa, but the Scot eventually ended up staying at the London Stadium.
And keeping hold of the 31-year-old must surely be considered as Manuel Pellegrini’s best piece of business since taking over as Hammers boss in the summer.
Snodgrass has been exceptional for West Ham this season, chalking up an impressive four goals and seven assists in 24 appearances in all competitions thus far, and he is now certainly one of the first names on Pellegrini’s team-sheet.
The Chilean brought nine new faces into the club in the summer, and added another new signing earlier this month, with Samir Nasri arriving at the London Stadium.
Some of Pellegrini’s new signings have hit the ground running, with the likes of Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena and Łukasz Fabiański all impressing.
In spite of this, however, Snodgrass remaining at West Ham, and performing in the manner that he has done this season, surely means that Pellegrini’s best decision was keeping hold of the Scot.
West Ham currently sit in 10th spot in the Premier League table, and their hopes of finishing inside the top seven will depend heavily on whether or not Snodgrass can maintain his fine form during the second half of the campaign.
And if the Hammers do manage to do just that, Pellegrini’s decision will look like an even more inspired one.
