Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku might have upset Everton fans again.

The talismanic forward made it publicly clear he wanted to leave Everton in the summer much to the chagrin of the club’s supporters.

It took a huge bid from Manchester United to prise him away from Goodison Park – and the clutches of Chelsea – and he has not looked back scoring 11 goals in as many games so far.

The Belgian was criticised after rubbing it in Toffees fans’ faces when he scored against his former employers in a 4-0 win last month.

He responded to that criticism insisting it was “just banter” between them.

But Lukaku might have upset Evertonians once again after appearing to blame his old club for his unwelcome ‘big six’ tag – which nods to his lack of goals against the top sides in the Premier League.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Lukaku said a lack of ambition at Everton made life difficult for him against the elite.

“When I was at Everton we had a different mindset going into games,” Lukaku told Sky Sports.

“Sometimes it was difficult against some teams when you play not to win and you don’t really create chances.

“Now I am in a team who want to win against big teams so I think the situation will change.”

Lukaku failed to find the net against Liverpool last time out and could yet find himself in hot water over a challenge on Dejan Lovren.
