Is Jonny Hayes fighting a losing battle regarding his Celtic career?

Celtic fans could be forgiven for forgetting about Jonny Hayes.
After all, the Irish winger hasn’t even made the bench for Celtic in any competition this month, having only played 56 minutes of football all season.
But going by comments from Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers, is Hayes’s career effectively over already?
The former Aberdeen winger looks to have been usurped in Rodgers’s squad by Mikey Johnston.
Speaking about the highly-rated winger this week, Rodgers told The Scottish Sun: “Mikey was dynamic and he is progressing really well. His best side is the left, there’s no doubt, but he’s shown he can play on the right.”
Hayes is also a right-sided winger, but the fact that Rodgers views Johnston as one suggests that the former is now competing with Johnston and James Forrest for a first-team spot.
It looks rather ominous for the Dubliner, who fetched £1.3 million in the summer of 2017, and unless he transforms his fortunes over the coming months then few would be surprised if he left in January.
