Tottenham Hotspur central defender Jan Vertonghen appears to have suggested on Twitter that he is open to signing a new contract at the club.

Vertonghen has been on the books of Tottenham since 2012 and has established himself as a key figure at the North London club over the years.

The 32-year-old remains one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, but the Belgium international is out of contract at Spurs next summer, according to Football.London.

Vertonghen seems to have suggested on Twitter that he is open to signing a new contract with Tottenham, as he has liked a post from a Spurs fan urging him to put pen to paper on a new deal.

New contract for Tottenham Hotspur?

Vertonghen may be 32 years of age, but the Belgian is at the top of his game, and handing him a new two-year contract would not be a bad idea.

True, Davinson Sanchez is playing well and is young, but for Spurs to regularly challenge for the Premier League title and to make an impact in the Champions League, they need a big squad with experienced players.
