The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is said to be available for transfer for the right price.
According to a report from Sunday’s print edition of the Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are willing to sell midfield Tom Carroll this January if they get a reasonable offer.
That is no surprise given the 24-year-old’s slide down the pecking order this season, with only three appearances in all competitions – including a single minute in the Premier League – and a complete absence from every other match day squad.
While Tottenham strengthened their midfield in the summer with the signings of Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko, it is the emergence of another player that is likely to hasten Carroll’s exit.
Harry Winks has always been highly rated at White Hart Lane, but it is this season that he is really starting to show what he can do when given a chance.
He came off the bench against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League to change the game and he was about the only Spurs player to come away from the EFL Cup clash against Liverpool with his head held high after a superb showing.
Winks is only 20 yet he is already showing more than Carroll does when he gets a chance, and with Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino already well stocked in central areas the youngster’s emergence may well be the final nail in Carroll’s proverbial coffin.
