Will Alfredo Morelos start for Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers against Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby?

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on January 24, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has told The Express that Alfredo Morelos is desperate to score against Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers will take on Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic at home in the Old Firm derby on Sunday afternoon.

While referring to interest in from Beijing Renhe in the Colombian striker and Rangers’ subsequent rejection, as reported by The Express, Murty told The Express: “If you see him in training and the response he’s had from that, I’m confident he will be desperate to go and put the ball in the back of the net.”

Hint on team selection?

Morelos is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership and has been banging in the goals for fun this season.

Given how impressed Murty has been with the Colombian in training, there is a very good chance that he will include the 21-year-old in the starting lineup against Celtic.

Jason Cummings, who joined the Ibrox club on loan from Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window, is also playing well at the moment.

If Murty wants to pick one striker for the game, then Morelos would be the better option, but perhaps the Rangers boss could well decide to go with two upfront and pair the Colombian with Cummings.

The Old Firm derby on Sunday promises to be hugely entertaining and exciting.
