Gerrard’s Rangers are far from done in the transfer window.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has brought exactly what was needed at Ibrox with his new signings – proven quality, raw talent, but most of all, an unbreakable enthusiasm that has transpired across to the fans.
Indeed, the new-look defender of Allan McGregor, James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic and Jon Flanagan is working wonders, with Rangers yet to concede in their opening three Europa League qualifiers.
Liverpool loanees Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent are superb signings, while the unknown element of Lassana Coulibaly and Umar Sadiq has added to the optimism at Ibrox – the experience of Scott Arfield and Jamie Murphy also key.
However, the Gers still need a new centre-back, following the loss of Russell Martin, Bruno Alves and David Bates this summer. He has failed to bring in Millwall’s Jake Cooper, Bolton’s Mark Beevers and Man City’s Kean Bryan.
Despite that, the former Liverpool and England captain has agreed to cancel Fabio Cardoso’s contract, leaving Rangers with just two options at centre-back before they have to dip into their youth academy.
Cardoso, who only joined Rangers last summer, has opted to cancel his current deal with Gerrard not even giving the 24-year-old Portuguese star a chance to prove himself.

One injury could be a crisis now Gerrard has thrown Cardoso on the scrapheap and with games coming thick and fast as the Europa League combines with the Scottish Premiership and League Cup, it would not be a surprise for an injury to occur.
It could see Gerrard rue his decision to offload Cardoso, especially before bringing in a replacement.
