Victory at Norwich means Derby have now won three straight Championship matches since their triumph over Nottingham Forest.
Radio presenter Ian Abrahams, also known as Moose, from Talksport Radio shares a joke with Chris Iwelumo of Watford (L) and Steven Caldwell of Birmingham (R).
Chris Iwelumo has suggested that Derby County are the Championship’s dark horses as their 2-1 win at Norwich City at the weekend moved them up to seventh in the table.
It was the Rams’ third straight victory in the second tier of English football after a run of form that stretches back to their 2-0 derby triumph over rivals Nottingham Forest on October 15.
Richard Keogh celebrates after the Sky Bet Championship match between Derby County and Nottingham Forest.
“(Derby manager) Gary Rowett will be happy they’re under the radar at the minute,” Iwelumo said while speaking as a pundit on Channel 5’s Championship programme.
“They’re underachieving in terms of the squad they have. But after the win against Forest they have kicked on – three wins on the bounce – and you know what, they’re a force to be reckoned with.”
Gary Rowett manager of Derby County looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match against Nottingham Forest.
Rowett’s men are also unbeaten in six in the league having drawn their three matches before playing the Reds in a run that started after the 4-1 defeat to Bristol City on September 16.
While a lot of focus is being given to the very top of the division and the early pacesetters Sheffield United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City, Derby are quietly creeping up.
They now sit just outside the playoffs with only a point separating themselves and Aston Villa and Leeds United in sixth and fifth place respectively.
Next up for them is a tough away trip to Elland Road to take on the aforementioned Leeds in a game which if they win, will move them into the top six.
