Robin Van Persie believes Gyrano Kerk is a forward who “basically has everything” amid reported interest in the Eredivisie speed machine from Leeds United and Celtic, speaking to De Telegraaf.
There was a collective sigh of relief across the picturesque city of Utrecht when the European transfer window slammed shut in October.
Because, after weeks of relentless speculation, Kerk was still plying his trade in the Netherlands once the deadline passed.
The Mirror (27 September, page 74) had reported a few days before deadline day that Leeds had identified one of the fastest forwards in the game as a potential addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s front line. Meanwhile, former Utrecht coach John van den Brom admitted Celtic had also shown an interest (Daily Record).
Kerk will embark on a new adventure at some point in the near future but, for now, remains the jet-heeled talisman of a Utrecht side aiming for the Europa League this season.
“It is the first time in years that such a good squad has been compiled (at Utrecht),” says former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Van Persie.

“Kerk is a player who basically has everything. He is fast, has vision, is technical and can score. He can still play a level higher in the near future.”
Utrecht wanted £10 million for their 2019/20 player of the year after Kerk produced ten goals and 11 assists for the Stadion Galgenwaard outfit, adding much-needed end product to his searing pace.
