Celtic’s Eboue Kouassi has been linked with a Parkhead exit this summer.
Eboue Kouassi has suggested to The Record that he does not plan on leaving Celtic this summer.
According to Foot Mercato, several Ligue 1 clubs are interested in signing the Ivorian midfielder, who joined Celtic for £3 million [The Record] 18 months ago.
Despite a lofty transfer fee, Kouassi has struggled to repay it so far and has only started eight games under Brendan Rodgers across all competitions.
However, the former Krasnodar ace is perhaps still wanted by Rodgers, evident by the fact that he earned a 22-minute cameo in Tuesday night’s Champions League win in Armenia.
And Kouassi has suggested to The Record that he hopes to earn more playing time for the Scottish side going forward.
“I hope this is the start for me. I want to have more responsibility in the team. We shall have to wait and see. Playing in such a big game does give me confidence.
“Every time I play I am very happy and want to prove myself. I have to wait for my chance to get into the team.
“As a team, we have good mentality now and a good spirit, so this is why we will be better than last season. I want to play more, all I can do is work hard and do my best when the manager gives me my chance.”
These are not the words of someone who plans to quit Celtic and it will be interesting to see if Rodgers meets him half way and plays him more often this season.
That being said, the Bhoys are also keen on Hibernian’s John McGinn, having seen two bids rejected so far, and his arrival would make it very difficult for Kouassi, considering Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham’s presence in Glasgow at the moment.
